Farmer Aidan

Well, this is Aidan's 5th grade Great American program that is about a month old since it's right before school got out, but I wanted to put the script on so you would know what is being said and I finally remembered where I put it. Each class had students that did a skit and they all sang songs in between. For some reason I cut the video before the last two comments, but the whole script is here.

Aidan thought it would be a good idea to talk with a "farmer's" accent.

Farmer: Well, Sally, it looks like the bald eagle has been officially adopted as our national emblem.
Sally: Officially adopted? In spite of old Ben Franklin fightin' against it?
Child: Why doesn't Mr. Franklin want the eagle to represent America, Mama?
Sally: Mr. Franklin claims that the eagle is a bird of bad moral character. He says it's too lazy to fish for itself, and that it's a coward because the little birds chase it away.
Child: Well then, which bird does Mr. Franklin want for the American emblem?
Sally: The turkey.
Farmer: The TURKEY! Now, that just proves old Ben don't know everything! It's my opinion that he misunderstands the eagle!
Child: What do you mean, Papa?
Farmer: The eagle is no bully it's just that he's bigger'n every bird around! When those little birds come at him, he just takes the same attitude that old Molly does when her puppies jump on her and bite her ears-
Child: Molly just ignores her pups when they act like that. Is the eagle ignoring those pesky little birds, Papa?
Farmer: You better believe it!
Sally: You know, there's some nice symbolism in that! This United States is becoming a strong nation, and I don't think it would be right for us to strut around with our feathers out like a conceited old turkey. I like the quiet strength that the eagle show. Mark my words, someday people will thank the congress that they didn't listen to Mr. Ben Franklin for once!

our new pool

Some friends of ours from our ward moved to Houston and they didn't want to take this pool with them, so they gave it to us. It took Memorial Day weekend to get the backyard ready for it and it was so worth it. The kids are having so much fun! It is a pretty good size - 16' wide and 3' deep - not too deep for the little ones. Connor always says he will be the lifeguard. These pictures are from the first day and it wasn't quite filled up yet. The water was pretty cold, but has warmed up nicely now. Can't wait for the next water bill!!!

Brogan's Irish Dancing

So this is Brogan doing his "Irish" dance. He is dancing to Dropkick Murphy's song I'm Shipping Up To Boston. I wish you could see his feet more because it is a crack up seeing those little club feet going so fast! Also notice how he keeps looking at his reflection in the tv. If I can get a better video of him, I will post it later.

Fun in Grammie and Crampa's backyard

This is when Josh and Karly came to Reno in May and we got together with them and Ross and Darin at Grammie and Crampa's house for a fun appetizer dinner and playing in the backyard. We jumped on the trampoline a lot and played a couple of games of croquet. The adults had their own game and the kids had their own, though Connor always thinks he has to hang out with the adults. The kids had tons of fun. They love to spend time with family.

the new fashion?

A couple of Sundays ago, Brogan wanted to wear his pants a certain way..........

he was very insistent on this. He wore them this way all the way up to the church, then when he got in the breezeway, he changed his mind. I wonder why?!

surely face

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
If you're happy and you know it, then your surely face will show it,
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!
That is Finn's version of the song. Recently she kept singing the first line over and over, so I told her the 3rd line of the song was, "If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it", but she just sang it her own cute, funny way!
